As you all may know I am reading The Power of Now, it’s one of the many books on my book lists.  I feel reassured when I read, it makes me feel confident.  There are so many ways to feel confident but are they the right ways?  Or are we just pleasing our ego temporarily and hurting others along the way.  Let’s focus on ourselves, for a bit, and build confidence and self esteem together.  Below is a list of how to build confidence and self-esteem I picked up from Psychology Today:In (bold and parenthesis) I’ve added my thoughts.Building Confidence and Self-Esteem:FYI For Your Improvement: A Guide for Development and Coaching.  This was one of my text books when I was studying for a Master’s in Business Administration.1. How To Stop Trying To Love Yourself, And Start Being HappyHaving spent a lot of my 20’s and early 30’s battling mild depression, I’ve read far too many self-help books in an attempt to figure out why I was miserable with my wonderful life.At some point, almost every book cited self esteem as the problem and learning to love yourself as the miracle cure for unhappiness.Not one of the books actually had a step-by-step prescription for how to love yourself.So, the question I’ve been asking myself for years is:Exactly how the fuck am I supposed to love myself?Do I wake up in the morning and hug myself?Do I look at myself in the mirror (with puppy-dog eyes) and repeat the mantra “I love you, Bruce.
