Building Self Esteem through Affirmative Statements

When you are faced with a daunting task it’s easy to get discouraged. And it’s easy to express discouragement, doubt, dismay, fear and other negative emotions through negative self talk. Examples:“I can’t do this.”“There’s not enough time/money/hands to do this.”“I don’t know how and I can’t learn how to do it.” Etc.Negative self talk leads to low self esteemThe problem with this is that it amplifies the discouragement. It sets the negative belief in stone as a “truth” that then becomes even more daunting and ultimately impossible to overcome. Then it’s more than discouragement, it’s failure.There’s nothing like failure to torpedo self esteem: “I can’t even do X (whatever the daunting task was).”On the other hand, there’s nothing like success to build and reinforce self esteem. 5 Negative statements that will limit your ability to build self confidence

In the past one of the things I did to myself was to put myself down. One day I realized that continually repeating negative statements about myself would do nothing in helping me build self confidence. For some reason I actually found it easier to focus on what I did wrong or what wasn’t working than I did about anything that went right. As you build self confidence there will be limiting beliefs that you have, which will stop you and I remember using seven negative statements that are particularly harsh. If any of these are things you say to yourself it is time to create positive affirmations to counter act them.If I Am Not Confident Now I Never Will BeI used this statement to get me off the hook and give up trying to be more self-confidence, especially after a particularly bad event.
