Building Confidence and Self Esteem | Life Coach Kent

Confidence and arrogance are not the same thing and it’s OK to have confidence in yourself.Maybe you never had a lot of confidence or you did in the past but somebody took it from you by holding you back or events beyond your control made you doubt yourself. It can be hard to pick yourself up from these problems but it can be done.Events in my past meant that I found myself homeless as a very young man and it was quite a fight to pick myself up and build a new life for myself. The Fourth Step in Leaving Law Behind – Facing Your Fears

This article originally appeared on Above the Law.As we discussed in the first three articles of this series, through Leave Law Behind, I work with many intelligent attorneys who nonetheless are unhappy and want to leave the law behind and do something else. They want to change their life and their work and their focus with the goal to be more satisfied, more confident and happier.I tell them the first step in leaving the law behind involves getting a handle on their money situation; to become as confident and exact as possible in understanding (i) their expenses, as well as any (ii) safety net and other sources of financial support they can call upon if needed. The second step in leaving law behind is about not letting your past undermine your future. More specifically, this step involves resolving any lingering demons law school may hold over your head (squeezing out more of a ROI from my law school “investment”, ensuring my identity is tied to being an attorney, what else would I do if I’m not a lawyer, etc.) that prevents you from moving forward with positive change in your life. The third step in leaving law behind involves focusing on exploring your Unique Genius. Dress for Success. A good fit for financially troubled women. – For …

Financial Coaching: Dress for Success. A good fit for financially troubled women.I was reminded this week about a Toronto charity that is doing something quite interesting, and altogether admirable. It is called Dress for Success, which has devoted itself to helping unemployed and financially troubled women look and feel good during one of life’s biggest make or break moments – namely, interviewing for a job.Actually, Dress for Success features a five-step process that greatly empowers women as they seek and undertake new employment opportunities. The process begins with what is called “interview suiting” wherein women in need receive for free two formal outfits to prepare for upcoming job interviews. Not only that, but volunteer stylists work with each woman to select clothing that serves the dual purpose of reflecting individual style while at the same time promoting a smart professional image. Now, if anyone out there thinks this sort of support sounds rather “decadent” insofar as charity work is concerned, I say think again Continue reading

Five important Interpersonal skills that help build self confidence …

Posted by DianeCorriette on Monday, September 10th 2012 There is a very strong link between your interpersonal skills (also called social skills and life skills) and self-confidence. Today I focus on five of them that I consider to be very important skills to develop. What are interpersonal skills?Interpersonal skills are the skills and abilities that a person uses to build relationships, communicate and interact with other people on a social level, at work, in groups and one-to-one. Improving and building on your interpersonal skills will go a long way towards helping you develop a strong sense of self-confidence. They include things like:CommunicationCommunication can happen over the phone, face to face, letters, via email and a bunch of different ways. The key to all of them is that information is passed from yourself to another person successfully because they fully understood your message.   When you learn how to communicate effectively you not only get your message across but you also get your voice heard.
